Blue is a clever minimalist puzzle of color and logic
Blue is an elegant little brainteaser that turns a single color into a surprisingly rich puzzle experience. Your only goal is to make the entire screen blue across 50 levels, but each level rewrites the rules of how you get there.
The concept sounds simple, yet Bart Bonte’s design makes every stage feel fresh. One level might have you tapping numbered tiles in a specific order, another has you dragging shapes into just the right position, while others rely on rhythm, timing, or recognizing a subtle pattern in the layout. There’s no text tutorial holding your hand; instead, you’re nudged to experiment and gradually decode the logic behind each challenge.
Visually, the game is pure minimalism: clean shapes, flat colors, and of course a whole lot of blue. The soundtrack complements this perfectly, with calm, looping audio that quietly supports the meditative vibe instead of distracting from it. It’s the sort of game that’s easy to open “for a minute” and then lose half an hour to without noticing.
If you do get stuck, the hint system is smartly implemented. A light bulb icon appears after a short time, and tapping it reveals progressive hints so you can get just enough guidance without spoiling the entire solution. An optional in-app purchase removes ads shown before hints, which is a fair approach for players who want an uninterrupted experience.
Winner of the Mobile Game of the Year at the Belgian Game Awards 2020, Blue shines as a compact but polished puzzle game. It’s ideal for players who enjoy logical challenges, lateral thinking, and the quiet satisfaction of finally cracking a tricky level.
