Combat is the highlight. Battles play out in real time with three-character squads, but you directly control only one Modifier while the others act via AI. Skill rotations, dodge timing, and ultimate chains create a satisfying rhythm, especially when you trigger coordinated team attacks. Each Modifier has a distinct kit, and swapping between builds genuinely changes your playstyle rather than just bumping numbers.

Customization is deep without feeling overwhelming. You can enhance skills, equip and min-max sigil-like gear, and tailor team synergies around elements and roles. Experimenting with different squads to trigger chained combos is especially rewarding and adds replay value to stages you’ve already cleared.

Visually, Aether Gazer impresses with crisp anime-inspired models and advanced NPR rendering that holds up even in crowded fights. Enemy designs and flashy ultimates are readable yet spectacular, and performance is generally smooth, though large effects can occasionally clutter the screen. The soundtrack leans into atmospheric electronic tracks, while fully voiced characters (with distinct personalities) make story segments more engaging than typical gacha fare.

On the downside, the usual free-to-play trappings are present: character acquisition hinges on a gacha system, late-game progression can feel grindy, and new players may face a steep learning curve before combat truly clicks.
