It displays speed, heading and altitude in clean text, plus an excellent time screen that pulls precise UTC from satellites alongside local time, sunrise, sunset and daylight length. There’s even moon phase info, a classic compass view, and a world map overlay with a day/night curve and sun position—features outdoor enthusiasts and photographers will particularly appreciate.

Support for multiple coordinate grids (OSGB, UTM, MGRS, USNG, CH1903, Maidenhead) and numerous datums makes it especially attractive to surveyors, radio amateurs and professionals working with specialized maps. Customizable color schemes, including an effective night mode, help the app blend with cockpit or dashboard instruments and reduce eye strain after dark.

On the downside, the interface is function-first and can feel dense for absolute beginners. However, once you understand what each screen offers, GPS Test becomes an indispensable, low-overhead way to verify, fine-tune and truly understand your device’s positioning capabilities.
