Stream hit shows, live TV and sports with ABC's slick experience

ABC delivers a polished, TV-like experience on Android, bringing together next-day episodes, live broadcasts and a surprising amount of free content in one place. Even though it’s now on its final update and scheduled to stop working after September 23, 2024, it still showcases what a network streaming app can do when it’s firing on all cylinders.

The home screen is clean and show-focused, with big artwork for favorites like Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1, Shark Tank, Abbott Elementary and The Bachelor. Navigation is intuitive: tabs for live TV, on‑demand episodes and curated “Unlocked Channels” make it easy to jump straight into something without digging through menus.

One of the standout strengths is the mix of free and authenticated content. The Unlocked Channels offer thousands of hours of shows streaming 24/7 without any sign‑in, a welcome perk if you don’t have a TV provider. Link a provider, though, and the app opens up: full next‑day episodes, a live stream of your local ABC station in supported areas, news coverage, primetime events and marquee sports like Monday Night Football and select NHL/MLB games.

Playback quality is generally excellent, with fast starts, stable streaming and reliable catch‑up features like resume and episode queues. Ads are present, but in line with what you’d expect from a broadcast network.

The major drawback is its imminent retirement. Knowing the app won’t function past September 23, 2024, makes it difficult to recommend as a long‑term solution. For the moment, it remains a slick, content‑rich way to watch ABC programming on the go, but its days are clearly numbered, and viewers will soon have to migrate to other ABC‑supported platforms to keep up with their favorite shows.
