Private messaging with powerful encryption and massive group chats

Enigma Messenger is built for users who care about privacy but don’t want to sacrifice convenience or power. At its core, it’s a straightforward instant messenger, yet it layers on serious security and a surprisingly rich feature set.

Conversations are end-to-end encrypted by default, whether you’re sending direct messages, chatting in groups, or sharing files. Enigma leans on strong cryptography standards — 256-bit AES, 2048-bit RSA and Diffie–Hellman key exchange — and stores only encrypted content on its servers, with keys remaining on your devices. Messages can also be set to self-destruct, which is ideal for sensitive discussions you don’t want lingering in your chat history.

Beyond security, Enigma feels robust. You can sync your account across up to six devices, including desktops, so swapping between your phone and computer is seamless. Large communities are well catered for too, with group chats supporting up to 100,000 members and even end-to-end encrypted group voice and video calls, something many secure messengers still lack.

Customization is another highlight. You’re given plenty of control over how your chats look and behave, which helps Enigma feel personal rather than generic. Privacy settings go a step further by hiding your phone number from other users and allowing you to block people from finding you via that number.

The main drawback is that, as a more specialized messaging service, you may find fewer contacts already using it compared with mainstream chat platforms. Still, if you’re looking for a secure, feature-rich messenger that doesn’t overwhelm you with complexity, Enigma strikes an appealing balance between privacy, power and everyday usability.
