Flip Sampler
Flip Sampler turns everyday sounds into polished tracks fast
Flip Sampler is a clever, performance-oriented production studio that lets you build full tracks from virtually any sound you can capture. Whether you’re tapping on a desk, humming a melody, or importing drum hits, Flip immediately maps your recordings to responsive drum pads and a playable keyboard, inviting instant experimentation.
The interface focuses on speed and flow. Recording a sound makes it instantly available, and editing tools are laid out logically: trimming, tuning, envelopes, and effects are all a tap away. You can keep things subtle with light filtering and reverb, or completely mangle samples into unrecognizable textures, which makes the app equally good for traditional beats and more experimental sound design.
Composition is handled through both live performance and precise editing. You can record quantized or loose takes, then refine them in the full piano roll by adjusting notes and velocities. Automation is a highlight: every knob movement can be captured or hand-drawn, and the fact that each automation lane can have its own independent length opens the door to rich polymetric and generative patterns rarely seen in compact music tools.
Flip also takes arranging seriously. Up to 16 song sections can be created and freely reordered, while the dedicated performance page lets you trigger patterns live, ride a global filter, play with pitch bends and reverb sends, and sprinkle in random fills for evolving jams.
On the downside, the engine is demanding. With up to 144 samples playing simultaneously, older or weaker devices may struggle with glitches or high CPU usage. There’s also a bit of a learning curve for complete beginners to music production.
For producers who want a portable, sample-centric studio with deep automation and live performance features, Flip Sampler is a powerful and inspiring choice.
