Asphalt 9: Legends is an unapologetically over-the-top arcade racer that throws realism out the window in favor of pure speed, spectacle, and slick presentation. From the first race, you’re bombarded with neon-lit tracks, dramatic slow-motion crashes, and a licensed roster of dream machines that reads like a car enthusiast’s wish list.

The vehicle lineup is one of its biggest hooks, with over 250 high-end models from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, and more. Each car feels distinct enough, but this is not a simulation: drifting, nitro boosts, 360-degree spins, and mid-air barrel rolls are all part of your standard toolkit. Races are short, explosive bursts of adrenaline, perfect for quick sessions.

Controls are cleverly designed for touchscreens. The optional “TouchDrive” mode automates steering while you focus on timing drifts, nitro, and route choices, making the game approachable for newcomers. Veterans can switch to more traditional steering for finer control, especially in competitive modes.

Online play is where Asphalt 9 truly flexes. Up to eight players can clash in fast-paced multiplayer races, while Clubs let you team up, grind leaderboard ranks, and unlock collective rewards. The cooperative Security vs Syndicate mode adds a fun cat-and-mouse twist, encouraging teamwork as you hunt down rivals or escape pursuit.

Progression, however, is heavily gated by blueprints, upgrade parts, and timers. You can unlock everything through play, but the grind quickly becomes noticeable, and in-app purchases are clearly tuned to speed things up. Some tracks and events also start to repeat once you’ve spent many hours with the game.

Still, if you’re looking for a visually spectacular racer with satisfying arcade handling, deep car collection elements, and a lively competitive community, Asphalt 9: Legends remains one of the most exciting options in its genre.
