Unison (Intel® Unison™)
Effortless PC phone connectivity for calls messages and files
Unison (Intel® Unison™) is Intel’s take on a unified device experience, letting your Windows PC talk directly to your phone or tablet so you can keep working without constantly picking up another screen. Once paired with the companion app on a compatible PC, it consolidates calls, SMS messages, notifications, and file transfers into a single, tidy hub.
The interface is pleasantly minimal, with clear sections for messages, gallery, and file sharing. Texting from the keyboard feels natural, and incoming calls popping up on your PC are handled smoothly, with audio routed through your computer. File transfers are a standout: dragging a photo or document from one device to the other is fast and reliable, ideal for moving screenshots, media, or work files without cloud detours or cables.
Performance is generally solid as long as both devices are on stable Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth. Notifications sync quickly, and the app rarely feels laggy on modern hardware. That said, Unison is limited to supported Windows configurations, and some older or non‑Intel systems are left out, which can be frustrating if your setup is only slightly off the official list.
The biggest caveat is its lifespan. Intel has announced that Unison is being wound down, with service ending for most platforms at the end of June 2025, except for Lenovo Aura systems that will continue to be supported. This significantly affects its long‑term appeal: it’s an excellent tool today, but not a future‑proof solution.
If you own a compatible PC and need seamless cross‑device messaging, calls, and file sharing in the short term, Unison delivers a polished, convenient experience—just be aware of its ticking clock.
