BlackOut
Streamlined IPSC scoring with real time stats and offline reliability
BlackOut is a specialized scoring solution tailored for IPSC match officials who want to ditch paper and move to fast, reliable digital input on the range. Built to work hand in hand with the MakeReady match management system, it focuses on one thing and does it extremely well: capturing scores accurately and getting them to stats in real time.
Once a match is set up in MakeReady and shared via PIN, BlackOut becomes the field tool for Range Officers. The interface is uncluttered and clearly oriented around quick, one-hand entry, making it practical for use on tablets while you’re still standing on the stage. Targets, penalties, and times can be entered quickly, and the app actively helps reduce input errors, which is crucial when you’re operating under match pressure.
One standout feature is its hybrid online/offline design. If connectivity is spotty on the range, BlackOut lets you keep scoring without interruption and synchronizes data once you’re back within a Wi‑Fi zone, typically at the stats office. Real-time sending of data, when available, lets stats keep an up-to-the-minute view of scores and rankings, cutting down on end‑of‑day bottlenecks.
For extra peace of mind, every signed scoresheet is automatically stored as a screenshot in the device’s gallery, creating a robust audit trail and a safeguard against disputes or accidental deletions. Data can also be exported to WinMSS, keeping it compatible with established IPSC workflows.
BlackOut is clearly aimed at clubs and match organizers rather than casual shooters, and it assumes you’re already using MakeReady. But for those within that ecosystem, it offers a highly efficient, competition-tested way to modernize match scoring and free stats staff from tedious manual transcription.
