Boris and the Dark Survival
Stealth horror and endless runs in Boris and the Dark Survival
Boris and the Dark Survival turns the Bendy universe into an intense top‑down survival horror, mixing roguelite runs with nerve‑shredding stealth. Instead of straightforward jump scares, it focuses on slow‑burn tension as you sneak through an ever‑shifting cartoon nightmare.
You play as Boris the Wolf, scavenging an abandoned animation studio for supplies while the relentless Ink Demon prowls the halls. Each run generates new layouts, item locations, and hazards, so no two expeditions feel quite the same. The moment you hear that ominous heartbeat and scramble for a hiding spot is where the game truly shines.
Stamina management is central: sprint too much and you’ll be caught, ignore your hunger and you won’t last long. Finding bacon soup, unlocking shortcuts, and learning the safest routes quickly become second nature. The included content updates — The Wolf Trials, The Unleashed and Symphony of Shadows — deepen the experience with darker areas, new enemies, fresh missions, and extra playable characters like Sammy Lawrence, complete with unique abilities.
Visually, the sepia‑tinted, 1930s cartoon aesthetic is faithfully recreated from the Bendy series, and the moody lighting makes even simple corridors feel oppressive. The soundtrack and ambient audio do a lot of heavy lifting, constantly reminding you that something is hunting you just out of sight.
On the downside, repetition can creep in after longer sessions, as the core loop remains largely the same: collect items, avoid the Ink Demon, escape, repeat. Some players may also find the difficulty spikes and randomness a bit punishing.
Still, for fans of Bendy or anyone who enjoys short, tense horror runs packed with secrets and lore to uncover, Boris and the Dark Survival is a tightly crafted, atmospheric gem.
