CSR Classics takes the straight-line thrills of drag racing and wraps them in a loving tribute to automotive history. Instead of the usual modern supercars, you build a garage filled with icons from the last six decades, from the Shelby GT500 and Ford GT40 to muscular Plymouths, Chevrolets and Pontiacs.

The core gameplay is pure drag racing: there’s no steering, just precise timing of revs, gear shifts and nitro boosts. Races are short, snappy and surprisingly tense, especially in the later tiers where a single mistimed shift can cost you the win. Controls are responsive and intuitive, making it easy to jump in for quick sessions.

What really sets CSR Classics apart is the restoration system. You start with battered, rusty wrecks and gradually upgrade them into pristine showpieces. Watching a dull, faded body transform into gleaming chrome and fresh paint gives a strong sense of progression that goes beyond raw performance stats.

Visually, the game still impresses, with detailed car models, convincing reflections and stylish slow-motion finishes. The soundtrack and throaty engine sounds help sell the fantasy of street racing through a neon-soaked city controlled by rival gangs, each with its own personality and car culture.

On the downside, the free-to-play structure brings the usual grind. Upgrades, new cars and restorations can become expensive in in-game currency, nudging you towards optional purchases or repetitive racing to earn cash. Players who dislike timers and gradual progression may find this frustrating.

For car enthusiasts and drag racing fans, though, CSR Classics is a polished, atmospheric racer that rewards patience with a garage full of lovingly rendered legends and some genuinely satisfying quarter-mile showdowns.
