Vikingard is a Norse-themed strategy RPG that mixes kingdom management, character collection, and narrative choices into an accessible, surprisingly rich package. Rather than focusing solely on battles, it invites you to live the full life of a chieftain: reclaiming lands, cultivating farms, overseeing justice, and forging alliances across a sprawling map inspired by Scandinavia and continental Europe.

The core loop revolves around recruiting and nurturing hersirs—elite Viking warriors and Valkyries. Each hero has their own stats, equipment, and progression paths, pushing you to decide who gets your scarce resources. Battles themselves are fairly straightforward and largely automated, but the strategic depth comes from team composition, hero development, and when to deploy your strongest units.

Outside of combat, Vikingard doubles down on storytelling. Dialogues, branching choices, and event encounters give the campaign a light narrative RPG feel. Decisions during voyages can yield rewards or setbacks, and the crossover with Vikings: Valhalla adds extra fan service for those who follow the show.

Social features are robust. Alliances are central, letting you team up under different Nordic deities and coordinate in large-scale Alliance Clash events. These competitive modes emphasize long-term planning and cooperation rather than twitch reflexes.

A romantic system and heir mechanic round out the experience, allowing you to build relationships, unlock story scenes, and raise successors who inherit traits and bonuses. This layer won’t appeal to everyone, but it does make your clan feel more alive.

On the downside, progression is clearly tuned around timers and in-game purchases, and players craving deep, hands-on combat may find the battles too passive. Still, for those who enjoy collecting heroes, managing a growing territory, and immersing themselves in Viking lore, Vikingard offers a generous, polished experience with plenty of content to chew through.
