Ingenious goo physics puzzler returns in gorgeous remastered form

World of Goo Remastered brings back one of the most inventive physics puzzlers ever made, now refreshed for modern screens and available as part of a Netflix membership. At its core, it’s still about grabbing squirmy Goo Balls and snapping them together to create wobbly bridges, towers, and contraptions that can survive gravity, wind, and other hazards long enough to reach a pipe-shaped exit.

The level design remains the star. Each stage introduces a new twist: balloons that float your structures, sticky Goos that cling to surfaces, or disposable nodes you must sacrifice to keep the whole construction from collapsing. Puzzles are rarely solved in exactly the same way twice, which makes experimentation feel both encouraged and rewarding.

The remaster subtly modernizes the original without losing its peculiar charm. The hand-drawn art has been upgraded to higher resolution, making silhouettes sharper and backgrounds richer and more detailed. The surreal world feels more vivid than ever, complemented by an excellent soundtrack that swings between whimsical and melancholic, and the ever-mysterious commentary from the Sign Painter, who adds personality and dark humor to nearly every level.

Beyond the main campaign, the World of Goo Corporation sandbox invites you to build the tallest possible tower from your spare Goos, a simple but dangerously addictive side mode that showcases the game’s physics at their most chaotic.

On the downside, the physics-based nature of the puzzles can occasionally be unforgiving, and some players may find the requirement of a Netflix subscription limiting. However, for those with access, World of Goo Remastered is an easy recommendation: a clever, atmospheric, and beautifully updated classic that still feels fresh years after its original release.
