MyTransit
Real time NYC transit times and maps in your pocket
MyTransit is a focused, feature-packed companion for navigating New York City’s vast MTA network, covering subway, buses, LIRR and Metro-North in one clean interface. A 4.7 rating is already impressive, but using it day to day shows why it deserves the praise.
The home screen is logically organized into Subway, Bus and Rail, so you jump straight to what you need. Subway riders get a crisp, high-resolution system map plus real-time arrival boards and planned schedules. Zooming around complex hubs like Times Square or Atlantic Ave feels smooth, with lines and station names staying readable rather than turning into a blur.
Bus support is equally strong. Live bus locations and countdown times are easy to read, with route maps that clearly show direction and stops across all five boroughs. It’s particularly handy for transfers, letting you see if it’s worth waiting for the next bus or walking instead.
Commuters on LIRR and Metro-North will appreciate the consolidated Rail section. Train Time–style departure boards, track info (when available), and service alerts are bundled together, reducing the need to juggle multiple tools during rush hour.
Service alerts and disruption notices are prominently displayed, which is crucial in a city where delays are the norm. Directions between stations and addresses work well, making it a solid choice for visitors who aren’t yet fluent in NYC geography.
The only real downsides are that information can occasionally lag when MTA data feeds are slow, and new users might find the wealth of options slightly overwhelming at first. Still, for most riders, MyTransit strikes an excellent balance between power and simplicity, making it one of the most dependable ways to keep ahead of New York’s constantly shifting transit reality.
