Dragon Hills
Dragon Hills delivers frantic destruction and princess power
Dragon Hills flips the classic fairy-tale script and hands the flamethrower to the princess herself. Instead of waiting to be rescued, she saddles up a raging dragon and blasts through storybook landscapes in a gloriously chaotic side-scrolling rampage.
Gameplay is refreshingly simple yet surprisingly tactical. You press and hold to dive underground, release to rocket back into the air, using the slopes of each hill to build momentum. Mastering the timing of these dives is where the game shines: skim just under the surface to avoid enemy fire, then burst out to obliterate knights, towers and siege engines in one fluid motion. Fully destructible terrain makes every run feel satisfyingly crunchy, as buildings crumble and the landscape tears apart beneath your dragon.
Progression is driven by coins collected during runs, which you can spend on upgrading armor, weapons and special power-ups like shields and explosive boosts. These upgrades noticeably change your survivability and damage output, and they become essential as you advance to tougher stages and epic boss fights that demand good reflexes and smart use of abilities.
Visually, Dragon Hills charms with cartoonish, colorful graphics and lively animations. The dragon’s movement feels weighty, and the impact effects sell the sense of mayhem. The soundtrack and sound effects, while not groundbreaking, complement the nonstop action with a light-hearted, arcade feel.
There are in-game purchases for currency and items, but they’re not strictly necessary to enjoy or progress; patient players can unlock everything through regular play. The main drawback is some repetitiveness in later runs, especially if you’re grinding for upgrades, and difficulty spikes may frustrate less experienced players.
Overall, Dragon Hills is a fast, pick-up-and-play action game that nails the joy of pure, unfiltered destruction with a clever twist on the princess-and-dragon tale.
