Fast paced Sonic runner with team swaps and flashy 3D action

Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom takes the classic endless runner idea and injects it with enough speed and color to feel unmistakably Sonic. Inspired by the Sonic Boom TV series, it trades the traditional look of the hedgehog and his friends for chunkier designs and brighter, more cartoonish environments, while keeping the core thrill of dashing at high speed.

The standout feature is Team Play. Instead of sticking with one character, you can bring up to three into each run and swap between them on the fly. This not only looks cool but adds a layer of strategy: Sonic’s Dash Ring Magnet is perfect for hoovering up rings, Knuckles’ Slam smashes obstacles out of your way, and Amy’s Ring Hammer gives you extra rewards. Learning when to switch characters can make the difference between an average run and a record-breaking one.

Levels are a mix of straightaways, jumps, rails, and hazards, all rendered in slick 3D. The Enerbeam segments, where you tilt your device to swing between points, break up the standard lane-switching nicely and make runs feel less repetitive. Performance is generally smooth, though the busy visuals can sometimes make obstacles hard to read.

Progression hinges on collecting rings, completing missions, and unlocking new characters and upgrades. There is a noticeable emphasis on in-app purchases and timers, which may frustrate players who want to advance quickly without spending money. Still, for short bursts of play, the structure works well and keeps you coming back for “one more run.”

For fans of Sonic and endless runners alike, Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom offers fast, polished fun with just enough depth to keep the blue blur feeling fresh.
