Control whole home audio with intuitive Sonos app
Sonos is designed as the central command hub for your speakers, and it largely succeeds in making multiroom audio feel seamless. The Home screen brings together recent playlists, stations, and recommendations, so you can jump back into what you were listening to or quickly explore something new without digging through menus.
One of the strongest points is service integration. From Spotify and Apple Music to TIDAL, Audible, and radio services, the app lets you search and browse almost everything in one unified interface. You can queue tracks from different services in the same playlist, then send them to any room or group of rooms with a couple of taps. Creating zones, pairing speakers for stereo, or building a surround setup is all handled from the same clean layout.
Personalization is another highlight. Sonos Favorites lets you pin your most-used artists, albums, and playlists, and Trueplay tuning helps adapt speakers to your room’s acoustics for better sound. If you own a voice-enabled device, Sonos Voice Control adds hands-free playback and volume control, with an emphasis on on-device processing for added privacy.
The app is not perfect, though. Recent design changes have divided long-time users, with some complaining that certain settings and advanced options are now harder to find. Search results can occasionally feel slower or less precise than expected, and managing large music libraries still requires patience.
Despite these issues, Sonos remains a powerful and polished way to manage a whole-home sound system. For users invested in the Sonos ecosystem, the app is close to essential—bringing together speakers, streaming services, and fine-grained control in a single, cohesive experience.
