Fast paced ninja action in a rich LEGO Ninjago adventure

LEGO® Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin delivers exactly what fans of the series expect: cinematic action, chunky brick-bashing combat and a story that feels like a lost season of the show. You step into the shoes of Kai, Cole, Jay, Zane and the rest of the team as they try to reclaim their stolen memories and elemental powers from the mysterious Ronin and his army of dark samurai.

The gameplay follows the classic LEGO formula: short, action-packed levels that mix combat, light platforming and simple puzzles. Each ninja has unique abilities, and the game constantly nudges you to switch characters to cut ropes, hack terminals, freeze water or burn obstacles. It’s satisfying, especially when you unleash Spinjitzu to spin through enemies and smash the environment into a shower of studs.

Visuals are surprisingly polished, with detailed brick-built environments based on familiar locations such as the Ice Temple, the Toxic Bogs and Chen’s Island. Animations are fluid, and the trademark LEGO humor shows up in slapstick cutscenes and character interactions. Vehicles are a highlight: piloting mechs, jets, bikes and even dragons breaks up the on-foot action nicely.

Controls are better than many similar games, thanks to the option between a virtual D-pad and a more casual tap-to-move scheme. Combat can still feel a bit button-mashy, and on weaker devices you may notice the occasional frame drop in busy scenes, but overall performance is stable.

Shadow of Ronin is clearly aimed at younger players and dedicated Ninjago fans, yet there’s enough charm and content to keep older players engaged too. Collectibles, hidden areas and unlockable characters add replay value, making this a robust, story-driven LEGO adventure that comfortably stands among the stronger entries in the franchise.
