Heads Up! is a clever twist on classic charades that manages to feel both familiar and surprisingly fresh. Inspired by the game made famous on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, it turns your device into a virtual deck of cards you hold to your forehead while everyone else shouts clues before the timer runs out.

The core idea is brilliantly simple: pick a deck, hold the screen to your head, and guess as many words as possible by interpreting your friends’ frantic hints. A quick tilt down logs a correct answer; tilt up to skip. This motion-based control is intuitive and responsive, keeping the pace fast and the laughs constant.

Where Heads Up! really shines is in its variety. You get a range of themed decks, from pop culture staples like Harry Potter, Friends, and Marvel to general categories such as accents, animals, and acting it out. There’s also the option to create custom decks, which is perfect for inside jokes, office parties, or classroom activities.

Another standout feature is the ability to record video of each round. Watching the chaotic clue-giving (and your confused reactions) afterward adds a replay value that many party games lack, and sharing those clips can turn a simple game night into a memorable highlight.

On the downside, some of the best themed decks are paid add-ons, and players outside the US might find a few references too American-centric. Additionally, it’s not ideal for solo play; you really need at least two or three people for it to work as intended.

Despite these minor caveats, Heads Up! remains one of the most polished, accessible, and consistently fun party games available, whether you’re huddled on a couch or playing over a video call.
