QuasiTV
Turn your media library into smart live TV style channels
QuasiTV offers a clever twist on personal media playback by turning your existing Plex, Emby, or Jellyfin libraries into always-on, live-style channels. Instead of browsing through endless folders and playlists, you can lean back and surf channels as if you were watching traditional television, but powered entirely by your own content.
The app automatically generates channels based on TV studio or network tags for shows and genres for movies, giving you curated “networks” such as comedy, drama, or content from a specific studio. Episodes play in order, grouped into blocks of one to four, and each channel maintains a rolling 24-hour schedule that refreshes every 15 minutes. This creates a surprisingly authentic live TV feel, complete with the sense of dropping into a show mid-run rather than consciously choosing every single thing you watch.
Control is straightforward: an on-screen guide appears with an up press, playback controls with down, and a back press opens the menu. Power users will appreciate the web-based admin interface, which lets you fine-tune channels, profiles, and settings from a browser. Customization is where QuasiTV really shines: you can create up to 10 custom channels for free, while Pro and Premium tiers unlock unlimited custom channels, playlist- or collection-based channels, and editing of pre-made channels. Premium goes further by adding user profiles, ideal for households with different viewing tastes.
QuasiTV is best suited to users who already maintain well-organized Plex, Emby, or Jellyfin servers and like the idea of serendipitous, scheduled viewing instead of constant on-demand scrolling. It may feel a bit niche, but for media hoarders and cord-cutters craving that “real TV” experience with their own library, it’s a highly satisfying solution.
