Chaotic high school sandbox packed with freedom and absurd fun

SAKURA School Simulator drops you into a colorful Japanese town and lets you decide whether you want to live a wholesome school life or turn the campus into a ridiculous action playground. It’s essentially a free-roam high school drama where anything from casual chatting to jetpack-assisted mayhem is possible.

You control up to four different characters, each with their own outfits and interactions, and can freely switch between them to see events from multiple perspectives. On the “good student” side, you can attend classes, make friends, build romances, and pose for screenshots in an array of costumes and accessories. The social interactions are simple but charming, giving the game a lighthearted, slice-of-life feel.

The other side of the coin is pure chaos. By visiting the Yakuza office and other locations, you can grab weapons, hop into vehicles, and send NPCs flying with over-the-top attacks. Despite the combat focus, there’s no gore or death: characters are only stunned and wake up the next day, now holding a grudge against you. This keeps the tone cartoonish rather than grim, even when you’re going on a rampage.

Visually, the game offers bright anime-style graphics and a surprisingly large map filled with schools, homes, shops, and odd secrets. However, the ambitious open world comes at a cost. The developer openly recommends a device with at least 3 GB of RAM and a mid-to-high-end chipset; on weaker hardware, you can expect lag, crashes, or slowdowns. Tweaking the in-game settings to reduce the number of students and closing background apps is practically mandatory on older devices.

SAKURA School Simulator won’t appeal to players seeking deep storylines or refined combat, but as a silly sandbox packed with anime charm, bizarre physics, and an impressive amount of freedom, it’s hard to put down.
