Epic skyfaring RPG with stunning music and deep party combat

Granblue Fantasy is a lavishly produced Japanese-style RPG that proves 2D artwork can still feel grand, dramatic and modern. Backed by Cygames, with music direction from Nobuo Uematsu and character designs by Hideo Minaba, this title wears its classic JRPG heritage proudly while adding layers of contemporary systems and social features.

You command a crew of skyfarers across floating islands, assembling a party from a huge roster of characters earned through quests and gacha-style summons. Battles are turn based but brisk, built around elemental strengths and weaknesses, special skills and powerful chain bursts. Despite the simple tap-driven interface, there is surprising tactical depth in team-building, weapon grids and summons, rewarding players who enjoy optimizing every detail.

The presentation is where Granblue Fantasy truly shines. The orchestral soundtrack gives even routine encounters a sense of adventure, while high-quality Japanese voice acting brings main story scenes and character episodes to life. The illustrated character art and enemy designs are consistently strong, and story events are updated frequently, keeping the world feeling alive.

However, this richness comes with a cost. The UI can be overwhelming at first, filled with buttons, currencies and overlapping systems. Progression is heavily grind-oriented, and while it is possible to play for free, the gacha economy will tempt those who want specific rare characters or weapons. Performance is generally stable, but older devices may notice occasional slowdown during effects-heavy battles.

For players who love sprawling worlds, detailed party customization and that unmistakable JRPG mood, Granblue Fantasy offers a deep, long-term experience wrapped in gorgeous music and art, provided you are ready to invest time—if not money—into mastering its skies.
