Turn spare devices into precise VR body trackers

owoTrack is a smart way to unlock full body tracking in SteamVR without investing in a stack of dedicated trackers. Instead, it turns your existing Android and Wear OS devices into virtual Vive pucks, letting you bring your hips and legs into social and fitness titles such as VRChat and NeosVR.

On its own, owoTrack works with the companion driver and overlay to provide hip tracking and hip-based locomotion. This is already a big upgrade if you are used to playing in VR with only head and hand tracking, as body movement instantly feels more grounded and expressive. The motion data is generally smooth and responsive as long as your Wi-Fi network is stable, and latency is surprisingly low for a wireless solution.

Paired with SlimeVR, owoTrack really shines. With a minimum of five devices, you can achieve full body tracking including legs, opening the door to more natural dancing, roleplay and physical interactions. The app exposes sensor data clearly, making it easier to troubleshoot drift, offsets or misaligned trackers during calibration.

There are still compromises. Performance and reliability depend heavily on your hardware and network, and some manufacturers’ aggressive battery saving may shut the app down when the screen is off unless you tweak system settings. Using multiple phones or watches also means dealing with heat, charging and occasional disconnects.

Nonetheless, for tinkerers and VR enthusiasts willing to spend time configuring their setup, owoTrack is an impressive and flexible tool. Being open source adds transparency and community-driven improvements, making it an excellent entry point into affordable full body tracking.
